ELEVATING OUR FAMILIES
SECURING OUR FUTURE
STRENGTHENING OUR UNION

USWW MEMBERS DESERVE MORE

We need:

  • Better representation.

  • Support with quality of life issues.

  • Technology that makes it easier to get the support we need, when we need it.

What this will cost:

  • The majority of members would see a decrease in dues in 2025.

  • Weekly dues for higher paid members would go up by 69 cents a week in 2025.

  • By 2031, all members would pay the same rate of 2%.

VISION USww

We believe in the power of collective action to bring about meaningful change for each and every one of our members. That's why our Executive Board is urging members to vote YES on Vision USww, a restructuring of our dues to make them more equitable and to assure that we are able to modernize and serve members’ needs.

We've listened to your voices and understand your needs for stronger contract enforcement, improved communication, and support in crucial areas like housing, immigration, and legal assistance. In a rapidly evolving world, it's essential that our union evolves too, meeting the increasing demands of our members and ensuring everyone contributes their fair share. By restructuring our dues equitably, we can better serve you and continue advocating for your rights and well-being.

OUR VISION FOR USWW

SEIU United Service Workers West (USWW) stands as a formidable force, representing more than 50,000 janitors, security officers, airport service workers, and other property service employees throughout California. As a vital component of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), comprising 2.2 million members, USWW is driven by a profound commitment to the dignity and worth of workers and their families.

In a rapidly evolving world, USWW recognizes the imperative to adapt and transform, striving to elevate families, secure futures, and strengthen our union. With a mission focused on cultivating member leadership, advocating for strong contracts, organizing unrepresented service workers, and mobilizing political and community support, USWW is at the forefront of driving tangible change.

  • USWW’s origins as the “Justice for Janitors” movement has brought together more than 25,000 California janitors in the pursuit of equitable employment, family-sustaining wages, access to quality healthcare, and workplace respect.

  • Our union has grown to include private security officers, collectively amplifying their voice for fair treatment and just compensation.

  • Across California's airports, USWW unites various service workers, including passenger service personnel, baggage handlers, and janitors, in the fight for dignified employment conditions and family-sustaining wages.

  • USWW members are the backbone of California's tourism, sports, and entertainment industries, ensuring the smooth functioning of stadiums, arenas, and tourist attractions.

With unwavering determination and collective action, USWW continues to pave the way towards a more just and humane society, embodying resilience, solidarity, and progress.
